On February 28, 2013, the social media platform Tumblr suffered a major data breach when its database was leaked online. The leaked database contained over 65 million Tumblr user accounts, including email addresses, passwords (salted SHA1 hashes), and other sensitive personal information.
The data breach was first discovered by security researchers at the website LeakedSource, who reported that the leaked database contained a wealth of information about Tumblr users. In addition to email addresses and passwords, the leaked database also contained usernames, dates of birth, and even IP addresses.
